PEF Events in Montreal
As Erin alludes to in an earlier post, the PEF organized events at this year’s Annual Conference of the Canadian Economics Association (CEA) in Montreal (May 30 – June 2).
All told, the PEF organized (or co-organized) eight panels/sessions, in addition to holding its annual general meeting, announcing the winners of our annual student essay contest (whose names and papers will soon be posted to the PEF web site), and holding a Saturday-night social.
One of this year’s highlights was our joint panel with the Centre for the Study of Living Standards, organized by Andrew Sharpe. Entitled “What has happened to living standards in Canada?,” it was attended by more than 40 people.
And though not an official PEF event, Saturday morning featured a panel in honour of Kari Polanyi Levitt‘s contributions to Canadian economics. It was organized by Robert Dimand and Mario Seccareccia.
Special thanks to the CEA (and their Executive Director, Anne Motte) for making this year’s events possible. The conference itself was well organized, and the CEA provides the PEF with important financial support.
Rumour has it that the 2014 Annual Conference of the CEA will be held in Vancouver.
