I think Mr Watt overplays the costs of exiting the euro now that Greek society has begun to collapse under extreme austerity. That’s the message the Greek elite and European financiers are delivering in order to get their hands on real Greek assets at fire sale prices. Argentina gave up the US$ and after some initial difficulties the economy soared.
Take a look at http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2012/02/austerity-policy-destroying-greek-society.html.
