And the Globe & Mail is today reporting that current low world oil prices spell problems for Alberta producers.
So Harper pushes a Canadian “Petro State” strategy, one that pumps up the dollar and decimates industry and jobs outside of Alberta and then sits back as his favoured industry craters on low global oil prices.
Some strategy!

Poor Albertans. Now if only we had some sort of strategy to sell Canadian oil to Canadians, with some sort of floor and ceiling price to assure cost stability for industry and consumers, then they wouldn’t have to worry. Some kind of program for dealing with energy that was truly national in scope. You could call it the “National Energy Program”; I’m sure Albertans would love it.
