There is a special, free on line, issue of the Cambridge Journal of Economics with what look to be very interesting contributions from the progressive side of the spectrum.

Did a search through all of the papers for “unions”. There is recognition in some of the papers of the diminishing role of unions in the developed world, but nothing I could see that was forward looking and envisaging a role for unions in low wage countries to counter global capital dominance.
